Aids Project LA Justin performed in this two day benefit concert to benefit Aids Project LA. The concert was held at the Willshire Theater, Beverly Hills. Justin performed "The Look of Love" and was featured in the grand finale as well.
A Night for Make-A-Wish by Norskie Next to me in the front row were these
twenty-something guys. I thought, "uh-oh, I wonder how this is going to play." I
didn't expect them to be "into" Justin Guarini. But you know what? He got them
into it. Between Easy and the next song, Lady (I think it was then), the topic
of the location of the local bar came up (how??). Justin, showing his commitment
to charity as well as his love of a good beer, commented that if it took
drinking to raise money for Make-A-Wish, well, then, he'd make the sacrifice.
Children's World Organization by hwkgrleo10 Hey guys, I just got back from Philly. It was a long, but fun day. We ended up taking a highway that we weren't supposed to be on about an hour out of the way, only to have to turn around and go back an hour and a half to get there. When we did finally at about 1:30, it was pouring down rain. Justin wasn't there and we were pretty nervous that he wasn't going to show due to the weather. . . .
By hawkgrleo10 Um, onto the game. He was fast. . . . But hah like the first ball that was hit to him . . . he completely over ran it! Mike Leech was yellin' out to him making fun of him and then goes to Kathy & Jerry, "Hey, you still have time to change your name!!" It was pretty funny. But Justin was just having fun, after he missed it, he goes, "Hey!! that's why I sing!!!" After that he made some pretty nice plays. . . . By Annmarie You can always tell someone's true person by the people they choose to surround themselves with, and Justin was no exception. In 90-plus degree weather, he had plenty of support there, constantly cheerful, with little more than a passing commentary on the heat. They were all pleasant not only to those they knew but the fans as well – all of the interactions felt very comfortable and natural. I was just so, so impressed… they're a good gang. I can see how Justin is who he is, when he's surrounded by people like this. . . .
By 2&Fro You know the feeling you get when you're on a roller coaster and it's clicking up the first hill, and even though you know what's coming you always throw your hands up and scream because it still takes you by surprise? Well, that's what it felt like seeing him finally appear before me in the flesh! I got a lump in my throat and my eyes welled up a little from sheer elation. And I know that when you look at his pics and listen to his CD it's hard to believe he could get more handsome and sound even better, but he REALLY does! I couldn't believe it. I was absolutely blown away and mesmerized. . . . By Annmarie I think I love Justin even more post-Columbus than I did
pre-. I heart him, I heart him, I heart him. (And I sound like a sixteen
year old, but really-- I do!) 5) He breaks the rules, 'cause it's common sense.
Instead of just sitting backstage doing whatever for three hours, he
hung out with the dance kids, passed out CDs, and signed autographs. I
could be mistaken, and that could have been planned-- but I don't think
so. Because that's Justin; why just sit in a dressing room for three
hours when you can interact? . . .
By kellyzmyidol OK so the game started off pretty good. The MC announced Justin and talked about how he was in J2K, he had a CD out, went on a nation wide tour and entertained 20 million people on AI, then Justin came out and got a huge crowd response! He looked really good, he was wearing jeans, a wife-beater, a brown jacket and a brown trucker hat with I think pink or red writing on it. At half time we waited by the stairs to be let down onto the court to go meet him and I was so excited (I had the pin-up from Bop for him to sign)! They said they were going to let 10-15 people down at a time and I was probably the 5th person to be let down. . . . |
The Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation
Justin performed in this annual all-star benefit concert at the
Herbst Theater in San Francisco. The
San
Francisco Bay Times
reviewer had this comment:
"Justin
Guarini sang Marvin Gaye's What's Goin' On, with a timely plea for
peace: War is not the answer. Guarini's mellow falsetto was flawless." Township Friends4Friends Benefit Justin headlined a benefit performance to raise funds for a Washington Township, NJ, family who recently lost their father. The event was organized by Charles Doud, Justin's cousin, and was heavily supported by Justin's family and friends. Justin performed three songs with the benefit band, "Brown Eyed Girl," "Soul Man," and "Unchained Melody." He talks about the performance in his May 16, 2006, blog.
Justin was on vocal rest but instead of canceling, he attended and did a short interview with Seth Rudetsky, who does the "Seth's Chatterbox Cafe" radio show. Proceeds from the event benefited the American Anti-Slavery Group (www.iabolish.org). Photo and audio are from the event's website, www.showcaseseries.org (photo credit Patrice Knaus).
By OnlyJ Let me tell you something, an older more grown up Justin is a sweet thing to glaze upon. I swear that man gets better looking with age. I know you heard this before and a lot of his fans know this first hand, but none of his picture's can compare to the real thing. Justin is just so much more alluring in person, he's so full of light. He shines from deep within his soul which in turn makes his outer beauty so much more glorious to behold in real life. And you can't help but have a smile on your face when in his present. Our guy seemed to be full of energy and very up and ready for anything that night. He was in such a good mood, he made us all feel very dear to him, he has a way of doing that you know. . . . Photo credit: Rockers on Broadway/Gordin Productions
Our arrival at the event was perfect. We got there just as Justin was taking the stage for his speech. To paint the picture just a bit, this was a very informal, intimate gathering. . . . I would estimate that there were about 150 people there. . . . The emcee of the event announced Justin as a strong supporter for the Habitat for Humanity foundation. Justin started his speech . . . . After he finished up with the autographs, the emcee asked him if he would come up on the stage and sing for us. Nonchalantly, he grinned and said, "Sure. Why not!" BE STILL MY FOOLISH HEART. NOT ONLY DID WE GET TO SEE HIM WE ALSO GET TO SEE HIM SING? . . .
Habitat invited Justin to speak at the Blitz Build because of the wonderful support he and his family have given the organization, both before and after Justin came to national fame. Click the links below to see video of Justin receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ambassador of Bucks County 2002, in April 2003, and announcing a Habitat For Humanity Donation from his fan club, which Justin matched: Habitat Donation Announcement* *Both videos originally posted at www.thejustingarmy.com, no longer an active website.
The event was an annual benefit for the 911 Families Give Back Fund. Justin performed the Star Spangled Banner and "Thinking of You" from his CD (his only public performance of that song). |
