Last Chance Summer Dance, Portland OR

I'll try to hit the high points and leave the rest for others to fill in with their experience. We arrived at Waterfront Park about two hours early and there were already a couple thousand people in line. Apparently people camped out overnight to get close to the stage, who knew! Now this wasn't the nice intimate affair that others have privileged to attend. There were more than ten thousand people all general admission, standing only, no seating. It was hot for Oregon, about 90. The two acts before Justin were Wayne Wonder and Junior Senior, both had minimal support from the crowd. Then the morning DJ says something about meeting Justin and what a nice guy he is.....the screaming ensues as Justin takes the stage, I mean lots and lots of screaming! The DJ also mentions that Kelly is off to the side of the stage to watch Justin. She was there early, since it was 6 hours before she was scheduled to perform. Justin was wearing gray cargo pants with a red design on the back, a white T shirt with red trim, and the white tennis shoes. Being the gracious guy that he is he gives props to Junior Senior and Z100 before starting his set. He sang One Heart Too Many, Condition of My Heart, Doin Things and Sorry. The screaming was non stop and he seemed to be enjoying himself in spite of the heat. The stage was really high so there was no way that he could physically make contact with the crowd. I was just pleased to see that he had a lot of fans and even the teen age guys around us seemed to be enjoying themselves. I would say Doin Things and Sorry got the biggest response from the crowd.

One VERY interesting thing. After Justin finished the DJ said "Who thinks SORRY should have been a huge hit?"....more screams and than the DJ said something like Justin has been cheated out of a hit song. Very interesting comment. Then they brought Justin back for a short live interview and then they said he had to leave because he had a plane to catch. One not so good thing, when he was chatting between numbers he sounded hoarse. A couple of good things, it was hot and Justin was sweaty, so we saw wet jinglets and Justin in semi wet T shirt. He truly is gorgeous in person and all the radio people seemed to like him and best of all Portland loved him!
