Justin's band mates shared
some of their insights about working with Justin on his new jazz album,
Stranger Things Have Happened. Drummer Jamey Tate commented that
"Justin is a truly talented individual, and the music is very artistic and
soulful." Pianist, arranger and co-producer Greg Gordon Smith commented
that "[Justin is] one of the most sincere people I know. Anyone else as gifted
as J would be arrogant, especially in this business. He is never anything but a
pleasure to work with and be around." Greg also indicated that the group
is hoping to tour and "play live all over." These comments and more can be
found in the
Jazz Man forum of our
Message Board.
- Philadelphia Inquirer Review: "[B]ecoming an earthier Al
Jarreau is within his sights. Guarini's silky, yearning treatment of "Night and
Day" can already stand with anything neotraditionalists like Michael Buble and
Jamie Cullum are doing." Check out other reviews on our
Music
page and our
Press-Reviews section.
- Justin Receives the NAMM "Music for Life" Award: At a
recent NAMM Show, sponsored by the International Music
Products Association, the over 9,000 members recognized Justin for his
continuing commitment to preserving music education in public schools.
Justin worked with NAMM, along with the American Music Conference, on several
projects, including presentation of a petition of over 30,000 signatures to
Congress in March, 2005 and speaking to an NAACP leadership conference in May.
More information on Justin's work for this cause can be seen on our special
Music Education page. Congratulations to Justin and the other
recipients!
