some of their insights about working with Justin on his new jazz album,
Stranger Things Have Happened. Drummer Jamey Tate commented that
"Justin is a truly talented individual, and the music is very artistic and
soulful." Pianist, arranger and co-producer Greg Gordon Smith commented
that "[Justin is] one of the most sincere people I know. Anyone else as gifted
as J would be arrogant, especially in this business. He is never anything but a
pleasure to work with and be around." Greg also indicated that the group
is hoping to tour and "play live all over." These comments and more can be
found in the
Jazz Man forum of our
Message Board.

American Idol Rewind is Launched: Justin performed at the American Idol
Rewind launch party in Hollywood on Tuesday, September 26th, with his Stranger
Things band, and has done some TV press for the show. Check out all the
photos and video clips we've been able to find (lots!) in our
Fan Forums.
Besides performances, new behind the scenes footage and Where Are They Now?
segments will be included in the Rewind show. Justin recorded some new
interviews for this program, which someone who got a sneak peak called "great .
. . You will definitely get your fill!" Relive the magic (or see it for
yourself for the first time)! See our
TV&Film
page for more program information.
Trump Marina show photos and video! On August 13th, at the Trump Marina Casino in Atlantic City, Justin

appearances on the show continue for the next five week nights. Check your
cable/satellite listings for your local channel.
Justin's third album and Burnlounge: Justin is working
on a new CD. He described the album as moving a
bit more mainstream than his jazz CD, with R&B, funk, soul, jazz, and a
"sprinkle of hip-hop." A single should be released sometime this summer.
In a recent
blog, Justin noted that launching BurnLounge v. 1.0 and a death in his
producer's family have pushed things back just a bit. Speaking of
BurnLounge, it's a new community-driven digital download service which was
officially launched in Las Vegas in early June. Justin hosted the second
day of the launch convention. You can read some comments from Justin about
the album and Burnlounge in
this thread
in our Forum. His jazz album can be downloaded
right now from his BurnLounge site by clicking the icon on the left hand side of
your screen on the News page. You can also listen to audio of a recent conference call
he participated in by right-clicking
this link and downloading the mp3.
Red Carpet Interviews at AI
Finale, Jimmy Kimmel, and Other Video:
Justin was interviewed on several AI Finale Red Carpet shows and did a
comedy bit on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the AI Finale. A clip
of his quick Idol Tonight appearance can be found in our
Video Interviews
section and the Kimmel clip in our
Acting Clips
section. He also appeared on Fox&Friends, which did an excellent
interview. To view that video, go to
this link and click on "And the Winner Is."
More Recent TV and Radio appearances: Justin popped up
all over on TV and radio this spring. American Idol Extra did a very
nice feature on him (go figure!). . . . He was a commentator on Scarborough Country
and
Rita Cosby Live and Direct several times . . . . He and Sal Mazzotta did an interview about the upcoming Mafioso II
film on Good Day Philadelphia . . . . Both FOX5 in Atlanta and
FOX29 in Philly did features on him . . . . He was a commentator on E! Entertainment's
10 Ways to Superstardom and also interviewed on E! News. . . . The camera caught
him several times while he attended the 2006 Trumpet Awards in
Atlanta. . . . He was a guest on It's Your Call with Lynn Doyle. . . .
Most surprising of all, there were brief glimpses of Justin on American Idol itself.
And there are others too numerous to list. Plus, Justin did a couple of
radio interviews. Video of the TV appearances can be found
by browsing through our
Video sections, screencaps in our
Screencaps gallery,
and radio interviews in our
Radio Interviews section. Then, check out our

touch of pop." It will have more original material, and a single may be
released later this summer. Tour plans are not clear at this time.
It was a fun interview; an mp3 of it to download is available at this

In the Audience at the American Idol Results Show: Did you
catch Justin in the audience on March 29th? Here's what we'd like to
know - they put him in the front row and show him on camera from the start of the
show, but don't acknowledge him? What exactly is their problem?
While you're contemplating contacting FOX and demanding an answer to this
question (and wondering why they haven't had him on to perform), you can check
out the screen captures and video of it on
our message board.
Way to go, Wyclef Jean.

Drummer Boy, and My Favorite Things. Drummer Jamey Tate posted them on
his website (click

know and love, but you won't
believe the fresh, new arrangements. The group has developed its own
distinctive sound and we couldn't be more pleased to see these artists
continuing their amazing work together. Keep it coming, guys!

Here's a treat in the meantime. Check out our
Concert Audio page and download the new mp3s we added of Justin
performing at the Children's Hospital Benefit in Columbus, OH, in May, 2004.
We especially recommend the incredible spontaneous a cappella performance of

impatient, we apologize but that was our evil plan. :)
A Birthday Message From Justin: It was Justin's birthday on

Some additional info on Justin's jazz album: An enterprising
fan who goes by the screen name "JJsugargirlrocks" was able to talk with
Jamey Tate, the drummer on Justin's upcoming jazz album, before one of his
tour dates, and got some
great additional insights into what we can expect to hear on the album. For some
excerpts and a link to the full write-up, click

Justin is a truly talented individual, and the music is very artistic and
soulful. I hope that you will all enjoy it!" (Jamey's tour dates can
be found at
his
website, if you'd like to show him some love, too.) Buzz
Tip: Stop by your local record store and say you've heard Justin
Guarini has a new jazz album coming out, do they know when it will be
released? Even if they have no idea, you've created a little buzz. :-)
New Photos! We obtained some photographs of Justin

forward to seeing this!
Justin Update: Mrs. Guarini recently commented briefly on
the behind the scenes stuff Justin has been doing. This is the main excerpt,
with a link
to the full comments available
here: "[I] guess what
I
really wanted to say.....so all his fans will know......he really is doing
great, he looks well, is very happy and he is working on some projects which
will take some time to develop but...the important thing is there are people
who have sought him out and so it will take time but all is well, I know it
gets kind of boring waiting for something new but everything will unfold in
time.....so that is all from me ...hope everyone has a great holiday
weekend....be safe..."
Justin was the celebrity guest host at the play "Fireworks!,"
performed at the Blue Heron Arts Center in New York City on June 30th and
July 1st. The performances benefited
APICHA
(Asian Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS). More information
and some backstage photos are
available at the
"Fireworks!" site.
During June, Justin was flying back and forth between California and
Philadelphia quite a bit, to participate in multiple benefit events.
First, on June 11th, Justin played in a charity softball game in south
Philly. The game was arranged by the Children's World Organization to
benefit the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Word is it was a
"hot" event. Hot and sweaty, that is. A short video snippet from FOX
News Philly as well as stories and photos from the game and information on
how you can donate to the Children's World Organization can be found
on our message board.
Second, on June 18th, Justin participated in the grand opening of the Cold Stone
Creamery in the Glen Eagle Square Shopping Center in Glen Mills, PA, to
benefit Nemours, the Dupont Children's Hospital
of Wilmington, DE. He performed, served up a little ice cream, and
signed autographs. The event also saw the debut of "Bongo Boy Guarini."
;-)
Video and pictures can be found
here.
Finally, on June 22nd, he attended the Broadway tour performance of "Evita" at the Philadelphia Academy of
Music and did a special meet and greet with the talented kids who won a role in
the children's chorus of the Philadelphia production.
Justin continues to work on his new jazz album. He
reportedly recorded a seven track EP of jazz standards, just voice and
piano, earlier this year, and is now working on a full album, which he
described as a mixture of jazz standards and original tunes, with some mix
of jazz/pop. Jazz drummer Jamey Tate has been working on some of the tracks
with Justin. Justin recently commented that he has been working hard on it
and they are expecting a release date in early 2006.
"The Unknown: Frankie the Squirrel" Update: A new
photograph of Justin and Sal Mazzotta has been added to our
Frankie the
Squirrel news page. Thank you to Sal for sending this new picture!
We'll continue to update this page, so stay tuned!
Support Music Education: Justin has been working
for the past year to bring attention to the cuts in music education in public
schools. Most recently, on March 9, 2005, Justin helped lead a delegation
to Congress and performed in a special concert for members of Congress,
their families and staff, along with the Commodores, Take 6, and former
American Idol contestants Diana DeGarmo and John Stevens. Essential
Justin has added a new
Support for Music Education
News page covering Justin's work with this
cause, which includes video, photographs and screencaps, along with news
stories and links to places where you can donate or offer your help.
Click the highlighted link to check it out!
"The Unknown: Frankie the Squirrel" News! Justin filmed a part in "The Unknown: Frankie the Squirrel," described by the producer/writer Sal Mazzotta as either an independent film or potential TV pilot. The episode shot in Atlantic City in May. Essential Justin has a special
News page with information on this project, including some details on the plot, Justin's role, and photographs from the set, courtesy of Sal Mazzotta and Eagle Films, Inc. Please click
here to read all about it, and keep current with updates as we add them!
According to
IMDb.com, Justin is credited with a role in the short film
"Tilt-A-Whirl," which was shown as part of the
Dances with Films Festival in
Los Angeles. The
festival site describes the movie plot as "A Hollywood producer has a
nervous breakdown in front of a simple coffeeshop girl, leading him to question the
meaning of his confused existence." The short also
features Christina Applegate, Chris Klein, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas, along
with Justin, as patrons of the coffeeshop.
The production company behind the film is Chesapeak
Films, of which Johnathon Schaech (husband of Christina Applegate) is one of
the owners. The film was apparently released on May 9th but no details
are available at this time as to distribution. We'll keep you updated.
NAACP Leadership 500 Summit: According to
a press release from the NAACP, Justin
attended this summit, along with actors Kerry Washington ("Ray") and Rachel True
("Half and Half"),
NAACP Chairman Julian Bond and Harvard Law Professor Charles Ogletree.
The summit was held May 26-29th at the Sandestin Golf and Beach
Resort in Destin, Florida. Young adults were invited to the Summit to
outline some of the problems facing minorities in the 21st Century. Given Justin's work with the programs to support
music education, we are not the least surprised he would be included in this
program. Wonderful work, Justin! Update: Click
here for a photo of Justin with a group of fans and their story
about meeting him at the event.
FilmFakers: Song Island:
In this show, which premiered on AMC fall
2004, Justin and other crew members fooled three unsuspecting actors into
believing they were shooting a new musical comedy. Justin not only
sings and dances but shows off some serious comedic chops. Seriously!
The boy is funny! They don't call him "the amazing Mr. G." for
nothing! This program has also been playing in the UK and will
soon be seen in the Middle East. Hello to all our international
visitors! We have screencaps, video, and audio from the show in our
Multimedia section.
We excerpted Justin's verse in "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" from the
American Idol Christmas CD, where he shows off his jazz chops. Check
it out for a taste of what's to come:
Justin's jazzy SCICTT. The news that Justin has recorded a
jazz album also reminds us of this review of his performance of "The Look of
Love" on American Idol:
I don’t know how many people have mp3s of their favorite
performances, but this gem from Burt Bacharach Week in Season One cannot be
ignored. This, to
me, is how brilliant Justin can be. The soothing string arrangement with
that warm brandy voice of his conjures a
spell that television kind of ruins. When you listen without the visual, it
takes you to another place. Awesome.
Sting7,
The Top 20 Greatest American Idol
Performances Ever, FoxesOnIdol.com
An mp3 of this "brilliant" performance is included in our

everything will unfold in time.....so that is all from me ...hope everyone
has a great holiday weekend....be safe..."
In his recent LifeStyle Magazine interview, Justin noted that, "People
usually remember me singing 'Let's Stay Together'. . . ." Is that
your favorite? Check out Justin's
Contestant's Choice performance and the judges' glowing comments (who can forget the "two
words" Paula coined that night?) in our
Multimedia-American Idol section.
Justin is filming a part in "The
Unknown: Frankie the Squirrel," described the by producer/writer Sal Mazzotta as either a potential TV pilot or a short film.
The episode shoots in Atlantic City May 9-13. More info
here. Quick Update: The
Press of Atlantic City describes the project as an "independent
film," and notes that it also stars Leonard Nimoy. The genre was
originally described as something for the Sci-Fi channel, so it should prove
to be interesting!
Justin is named "Bucks County's Favorite Idol" in a feature in LifeStyle
Magazine. See the scans here! Congratulations, Justin!
A fan has compiled Justin's performances on three DVDs, including most of his post-Idol performances. They are available for only the cost of postage ($1.42). If you'd like a copy of the DVDs, the information is
here,
or email us at
crew@essentialjustin.com.
FilmFakers, the AMC show Justin did last fall in an episode
entitled "Song Island," has been playing in the UK and will soon be seen in
the Middle East. Hello to all our international visitors! We
have screencaps, video, and audio from the show in our
Multimedia section.
According to
Mrs. Guarini, Justin was approached by ABC for its "Fallen Idol"
special, and originally agreed to do an interview, but when he looked into it further and
learned of their intentions, he declined to participate because he isn't
interested in bashing AI. Justin's comment to Entertainment Tonight
about the respect and appreciation he has for the support Paula Abdul has
given him and many others can be found
here.
How much of a nice guy is Justin Guarini? Well, a fan known as "TCE"
can tell you, because she got a phone call from Justin while she was in the
hospital recuperating from surgery (yes, for real). You can see
the link to her
comments about the conversation, which includes some additional
information Justin shared with her about his upcoming album: "[It will] be a mixture of
standards, some original tunes and some mix of jazz/pop with the slant still
towards jazz." We suspect they were able to cut back on the
painkillers for several hours after that phone call! :-)
For more information on all things Justin, be sure to check out our
Message Board.
In case AI-mnesia has struck, and a reminder is needed that Justin was
the original American Idol sensation, the one that all the others can only
follow, we have up a new version of Justin's electric Top 10 performance of
'For Once In My Life' as well as the Judges' Comments (well, the ones who
were able to speak, anyway). Both are on our
American Idol
Performance Videos page.
A new note from Justin (via Mrs. Guarini) indicates he'll be going into the studio to
record his CD the end of this month, beginning of next month, depending on
when the musicians he wants are available. No other details at this
time. Check out the
message
itself!
An exclusive new interview with Justin is in the current edition of
American Idol Magazine (the one with the top ten on the cover). What
can we say? Justin is one class act. Take a look
here and see what we mean.
The Bucks County Courier published a couple of articles about Justin,
including an update from Mrs. Guarini about some of Justin's current
activities. Check out the article scans
here!
Justin appeared on Good Day Live on March 9th while doing rehearsals for
the Support Music Education concert in Washington, D.C. The concert
was an invitation-only concert for
about 500 members of Congress and their staff. They showed a short clip of Justin singing "But Not For Me."
Video clips, screencaps, and more are available in our
Multimedia section and on our
message board!
Justin was on Good Day LA March 3rd to talk about the music education
petition being presented to Congress March 9th. Those GDLA
folks, never ones to concentrate on the subject at hand, talked with Justin
about his new jazz album (yay, public confirmation!) and the fact that he's
concentrating on acting right now. Justin said he's "done a lot of TV
work," so we're hoping for some announcements about that in the near future.
HUGE thanks to the LA folks at JustinHasIt for capturing the interview and
uploading it. A link to the video can be found
here.
BIG NEWS!! Justin has recorded a jazz album. Yep,
jazz!! Check out
Justin's message talking about it. No release date is set yet, but
he's excited about it. So are we! He says he's working on
several projects that will be made public soon as well. Thanks to
Justin for keeping everyone updated!
We excerpted Justin's verse in "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" from the
American Idol Christmas CD, where he shows off his jazz chops. Check
it out for a taste of what's to come:

Justin, through Mrs. Guarini, released another photo from the
Cain-Weidner shot. Check it out in our

think so!!
Justin continues his work on behalf of music education. On March
9th, he will lead a Congressional delegation to present a petition signed by
tens of thousands of people, asking Congress to save music education in
public schools. Read the press release

A quick Christmas post from Justin can be seen at the link

He assures us that "the wait is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllmost
over" until his new project is announced. He also comments that 2005
"looks more promising than any year since the show…and this time I’ll have
the control! Gotta love that." Yes, Justin, we do! We look forward to seeing how far he can go without the chains that held him
back last time.
Justin appeared The Artists Showcase Series' The Broadway Kitchen
Sink: Volume 2 concert Sunday, December 19th. Because he was
under-the-weather, he didn't sing, but instead of canceling (as some other
scheduled performers did), he instead did an interview with the host of the
event, Seth Rudetsky ("Seth's Chatterbox"). In the interview, Justin
publicly confirmed that he left Good Vibrations because he was offered
something else that he cannot talk about yet. Click for
more information on this event.
Justin also performed on December 6th at Rockers on Broadway 4, a benefit for Broadway
Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The event took place at the Crash Mansion @ Blvd
in New York City. Justin sang a rousing up-tempo version of
"Let's Get It On" that wowed the crowd. He also matched a $2000

a note to fans suggesting we should "keep [our] eyes
