Justin Guarini, left, the runner-up in the first "American Idol" competition, has a leading role in "Good Vibrations," a musical-in-progress filled with Beach Boys music, which will be given a workship production from July 29 through Aug. 1 by New York Stage and Film at Vassar College, Playbill On-Line reported. John Carrafa, who is directing and choreographing the show with a book by Richard Dresser, said it was not a biography of the Beach Boys but a "hybrid, somewhere between 'Mama Mia!' and 'Movin' Out.'"
