He Can't Resist an Audience
The Miami Herald February 15, 2003

Justin Guarini, the almost-"American Idol," seems to dig an audience so much, he's compelled to do his thing whether it's in front of millions of viewers on prime-time TV _ or a smattering of locals at a South Beach karaoke joint.

Guarini has been making cameos at Studio, an unglitzy karaoke club at the Shelbourne Hotel, Collins Avenue and 18th Street. Studio owner Louis Rosenthal said Guarini promises to be back this weekend.

"He's been a regular here since before American Idol, when he was working around South Beach clubs. He's a great kid. And the show hasn't changed him one bit. Well, his hair is curlier and longer."

Midweek, Guarini belted out "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" with his best buddy from back home in Pennsylvania, Mike Leach. He has been tagging along since Guarini arrived in Miami in early January to make the Hollywood flick "From Justin to Kelly," costarring Kelly Clarkson, the woman who beat Guarini on the first season of "AI."
