From Justin to Kelly

Dominating TV ratings and making records weren't enough for Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini. The winner and runner-up of the first American Idol contest also want to take over Tinseltown. In this month's musical From Justin to Kelly, it's sand, surf, and instant sparks, as the dynamic duo sings, dances, and acts their way around Miami, playing college kids on spring break looking for love.

BOP caught up with the movie newbies on the South Beach set to drill them about their first time.

BOP: Why'd you want to do this movie?
Kelly Clarkson: Because no one has seen Justin and I dance yet, and we can really shake our thangs.
Justin Guarini: And it meant I got to hang out with Kelly.

BOP: Does having each other make things easier?
JG: Definitely. Kelly is such a great friend, and it's cool to have someone to go through this weird process with. Plus, there's always someone who is just as lost as me onset.

BOP: Tell us about the big kissing scene.
JG: (laughs) Well, it was a little weird at first because we have a brother-sister relationship, and you don't kiss your sister the way we had to kiss. At least she doesn't have bad breath or drool.

BOP: You're both filming a movie and recording your albums at the same time. Are you rocked?
KC: Not really. I'm a workaholic, so I'm used to the pace. The only problem is that I miss home. I've been in Texas a total of about two weeks since I won last year.
JG: Yeah, there's not a lot of downtime. We learn our lines and choreography, film during the day, and record our albums at night. But I've been trying for years to make it, so I'm not about to admit I need a nap.

BOP: You must have a blast on the set.
KC: Oh yeah. I have been a little trickster, pulling and pushing people into pools. I also make funny faces at Justin while he's shooting. He cracks up. Justin finally got me back by throwing me into the pool, but I was wearing a see-through shirt! Hope that wasn't caught on tape.

BOP: Do you dig Florida?
JG: Yeah. I used to live in Miami and was miserable. I was bussing tables and not getting anywhere career-wise, so I gave up and left. It was cool to come back and conquer. I proved myself.
KG: Plus, I've been flying my friends and family out to see me because I miss them so much.

BOP: Splurged on anything else since making it big?
KC: Uh-huh. I bought my best friend, who signed me up for American Idol, her dream car, a 2003 Corvette, as a thank you.
JG: Not me. The only things I've bought have all been for work, like this great keyboard with studio speakers, When I get a break, I want to buy an apartment in New York.

BOP: Thanks, you two. We can't wait for the movie!
KC: Bye!
JG: Thanks!
