The American Idol ''Greatest Moments'' (RCS Records) CD is for the true blue,
never miss an episode, know everyone of the finalists' names, Simon Colwell hate
mail sender, Ryan Seacrest fan club president type of fan -- you know who you
are. With that said, there are many of you out there. In fact, they're probably
family members!
Although the record is good, filled with various eclectic cover songs of works
by everyone from Stevie Wonder to Burt Bacharach to Edwin McCain, that's really
all it is. But if that were the only fault, I'd let it ride and call it a mildly
enjoyable easy-listening CD. However, this is not the case. To me, ''Greatest
Moments'' would imply that these songs were the ones recorded on the show, you
know, the one we watched and called for and caused us to throw things at the
television set. Instead, all of the songs included on this record were recorded
at Barns Green Stores and Larrabee West Studios in California -- how authentic.
Furthermore, I hope you like Kelly Clarkson in all her packaged glory because
she appears four times, while the best crooner, Justin Guarini, only appears
twice. I demand a recount.
