Except for Ruben Stoddard's "This Christmas," Clay Aiken's "The First Noel" and the whole gang's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," this platter from the "American Idol" crew suffers from a generic sameness that ensares some of the others.

OK, Justin Guarini is good ("I'll Be Home for Christmas"), and Kelly Clarkson is classy ("Oh Holy Night"). But does anyone really remember Kimberley Locke, Christina Christian or Tamyra Gray? Die-hard fans may, and this album is for them.
